We’re proud to keep our environmental footprint light — choosing low-impact fabric to finishing. responsible production, and plastic-free packaging — while empowering ethical communities through our artist collaborations, fair manufacturing, and give-back initiative
🌿 Keeping our Environmental Footprint Light:
1. Certified sustainable fabrics:
✓ Our OEKO-TEX® certified linen-cotton blend is a breathable, less water-intensive fabric that has been tested for harmful substances — ensuring it’s safe for consumer health. Sustainability is not just about the environment; it also includes social well-being and the health impacts of production and consumption.
✓ ECOVERO™ viscose (from FSC-certified wood, closed-loop production): Lenzing fibers are biodegradable, helping reduce landfill waste and environmental pollution.
2. Eco-friendly digital printing:
• Waterless, flower-based inks.
• Minimal waste, no harsh dyes.
3. Plastic-free, biodegradable packaging:
• Seed paper hang tags (grow a plant!).
• Compostable waterproof mailers.
4. Low-impact transport:
• No mass production.
• We value made-to-order production, keeping stock and waste at the lowest possible levels.
🌍 Estimated Carbon Footprint
Each Riviera Reverie piece emits ~2.2 kg CO₂e — 80% less than the industry average. We fully offset our emissions through tree planting and ethical giving.
The average fast fashion garment produces between 10 to 20 kg of CO₂e per item due to:
- Mass production
- Energy-intensive processes
- Excess shipping
- Low-quality, unsustainable materials
At Riviera Reverie, our estimated footprint is just ~2.2 kg CO₂e per garment, thanks to our ethical, low-impact choices. That means each Riviera Reverie piece saves up to 17.8 kg of CO₂e compared to conventional fashion.
Per each 100 garments we produce, we’ve already saved an estimated 3.5 tonnes of CO₂e — the equivalent of:
- Charging over 400,000 smartphones
- Driving a car for 14,000 km
- Powering an average home for 6 months
We are deeply committed to transparency and continuous improvement in measuring our environmental impact. The carbon footprint calculations presented for our first collection are based on a combination of primary data from our production partners in Bali and country-specific emission factors and industry expert estimates.
Given the early stage of our sustainability journey, these figures represent our best available estimates, factoring in the fabric types, production processes, and local sourcing practices specific to our supply chain in Bali.
We recognise that accurate carbon accounting is a dynamic process. As we grow, we are dedicated to:
- Enhancing data accuracy by deepening collaboration with suppliers,
- Refining methodology through alignment with global standards (e.g. GHG Protocol), and
- Bringing full traceability to every step of our product lifecycle.
